Nothing in the film was quite as bad-ass as the marketing made it out to be. But, that was par for the course in the '70s - at least until Star Wars hit.Jeff Allardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04265550466781988388noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4964885632131848660.post-51403189837506186612010-11-17T10:42:29.335-08:002010-11-17T10:42:29.335-08:00You mentioned you had the Kong bowl and glasses, b...You mentioned you had the Kong bowl and glasses, but how about that straw with the little Kong inside, and he rose with your drink in your straw, then DISAPPEARED into the liquid when he reached the top!

My biggest disappointment of Kong '76 as a kid was that, contrary to the awesome poster, he never did crush a space shuttle rocket with his bare hand...FilmFatherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16572370403623288465noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4964885632131848660.post-2856731515235664392010-11-16T01:11:15.733-08:002010-11-16T01:11:15.733-08:00King Kong movies are one of the most interesting a...King Kong movies are one of the most interesting and exciting film among the animal related movies. He cared about making a buck, but he also cared about movies, and that's something sadly lacking in many of today's producers.Bob Igniziohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03630416222197419152noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4964885632131848660.post-55808472960719411252010-11-14T04:30:14.814-08:002010-11-14T04:30:14.814-08:00I agree. Yeah, a lot of them were schlocky but even those have their fanbases. Hell, he produced Amityville II: The Possession and Halloween III: Season of the Witch - how cool is that? I'm surprised there's never been a book out about him but maybe now that he's passed, someone will give it a shot.Jeff Allardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04265550466781988388noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4964885632131848660.post-57040081697614684552010-11-13T17:54:12.755-08:002010-11-13T17:54:12.755-08:00That version of King Kong also drags me nostalgia ...That version of King Kong also drags me nostalgia as the last time I saw a movie in a BIG theater. The kind where it was a bit of a hike to go out to the lobby for popcorn.
It was also one of the first movies I remember being immediately disappointed and angry with. It prejudiced me against De Laurentiis and Jessica Lange and Jeff Bridges for a good while afterward.

Still, the guy brought me a lot of entertainment... way more good than bad.Timmy Crabcakeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14737954661234574830noreply@blogger.com
